Billie often introduces herself as a “global citizen”, “citoyenne du monde” (in French) or “地球人” (in Japanese). She is from French descent, has resided in 5 countries (3 in her adult life), had a working experience in more than 10 and thrives in multicultural environments. Bilingual French-English, she also speaks conversational Japanese and is a “social butterfly”.
Engineer, recognised for her technical expertise in mission-critical ICT infrastructure with 25 years combined experience in stock exchange, investment banking and air traffic management, she is a chartered fellow of the institution of Engineers Australia. She is passionate about technology and science and doesn’t mind being seen as a nerd, in particular in regards to her many electronics home projects.
She is hyper-sensitive to music, studied solfege and the harp in Paris for 9 years from the age of 7. Whether it is by listening to it or playing it in a non-professional capacity, music is an integral part of her life, not just a hobby.
Billie came out as non-binary early 2023, subconsciously afraid of “not being trans enough” as she started transitioning. She affirmed herself fully as a transgender lesbian in December of the same year, not long after turning 50. Her transformation journey unlocked many superpowers including but not limited to: self-awareness, empathy and emotional intelligence. She has never felt more connected with people, and finds this extremely helpful for social interactions in her everyday work where she leads a team of more than 50 talents.
She is actively participating in the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group and corporate DEI group of her employer as a visible representative of the transgender community and is broader LGBTQ+ advocate.
